Questions & Answers
What do I need for KGG approval?
- Training
as a physiotherapist - Continuing education
in KGG with certificate (also the Polestar Pilates KGG course!) - rooms
within the practice (at least 30 square meters) - Devices for KGG approval
(either 3 reformers with box or 'conventional' equipment, such as leg press,
cable pulleys, angle table, vertical pull device, etc.)
How can I get health insurance approval for the Pilates equipment?
Approval for KG devices is granted by the ARGEn for medicinal product approval ( www.zulassung-heilmittel.de ). For the first registration, the application for a therapist must include, in addition to the certificate, a room sketch and, if necessary, a rental agreement if additional rooms have been rented.
How does the billing with the health insurance companies work?
KGG (treatment duration 60 minutes) is generally prescribed by the doctor as a parallel individual treatment with a maximum of 3 patients at the same time.
The physiotherapist can settle the bill for a physical therapy device prescription directly with the patient’s health insurance company or through billing centers.
The billing rates paid by health insurance companies can vary.
What can I bill?
The rates currently range between €52 (statutory insurance) and up to €120 (private insurance, at 2.3 times the rate)
How many patients are allowed to train at the same time?
3 patients per therapist. Accordingly, 2 therapists can care for up to 6 patients at the same time.
Can I apply for the KGG position with 'normal' Pilates training?
No, it has to be the course specially developed by Polestar.
Will other Pilates training courses be credited to me?
No, the entire 4-day course must be completed.
I already have a practice and would like to replace my old equipment with Pilates equipment. Do I need a new license?
No, because they already have an approval and the Pilates equipment is also qualified for approval.
Can a sports scientist, qualified sports teacher or other professions with Pilates qualifications offer and bill for KGG with the reformer?
No, only the physiotherapist with the KG device certificate is allowed to bill the health insurance companies.
Can I accept self-payers?
Yes, in compliance with the legal regulations on commercial activity and VAT liability. We always recommend having a diagnosis or referral from a doctor.
What is the difference to a reformer prevention course?
The reformer prevention courses can also be carried out by other professional groups. You do not necessarily have to be a physiotherapist. ( www.zentrale-pruefstelle-praevention.de/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Kriterien-zur-Zertifizierung_2023_Juli-2023.pdf )
Can KGG be combined well with other Pilates training?
Yes, extremely good – patients often stay in the practice for training afterwards, either as self-payers, in group training or in individual training.
